Our presentation for the evening is the control of insect pests in Hawaii landscapes. Dr. Hara will discuss the various options of insect control such as, biological control, systemic insecticides, and insect growth regulators. Decision making on how best to treat insect infestations will be discussed. Examples of recent problem insects and their best control will be shown. After the presentation you should have a better understanding of how to effectively control pest problems in your landscape. Dr. Hara is the Ornamental Entomologist at the Komohana Research and Extension Center UH Campus in Hilo. His focus is on the development of pest management programs for tropical plants and landscapes. Meeting is open to all landscape and turf professionals and to the public. Pupu’s and refreshments are served.
